How to Plan Product Photography and Video in One Studio Session

An online store may need photos shot against a white background, social media may require a short video, while a website may need content that highlights product details. When all of this is being created for the same products, bringing them to the studio several times is not always necessary. Photography and video can be planned as a single shoot, but this does not mean that both types of content are produced in the same way or delivered within the same timeframe.
The photographer needs precise angles, a clean background, and individual shots. Video requires movement, macro shots, music, sound effects, and editing. The production time also differs: product photography takes 2-4 hours, while product video takes one day.
That is why, when planning a combined shoot, you should determine from the outset where the photos will be published, where the video will be used, and how many different products need to appear in both.
One product, two different results
Photos and video do not replace each other. Buyers spend time examining a photo, comparing the item with other products, reading the description, and zooming in on the image when necessary. This is why the product's shape, color, surface, packaging, and small details must be clearly visible in photos.
Video shows the product in action. A moving camera can reveal the item from different sides, while macro shots can draw attention to its texture or a specific feature. The final material also includes editing, visual effects, music, and sound effects. If necessary, narration can be recorded and a voice-over explanation added.
During a combined shoot, these two processes share the same product and an agreed visual direction, but each requires its own shots. A static angle selected for photography may no longer be sufficient once movement is introduced in video. Likewise, an effective macro video shot cannot replace the main product photo in an online store.

What photography includes and what video includes
Product photography starts at 300 GEL. The shoot takes 2-4 hours, and the finished photos are delivered within 3-5 business days.
The photography service includes:
- professional studio photography;
- shots against a white background and in a styled setting;
- product preparation and arrangement;
- color correction and retouching;
- background removal from shots taken against a white background;
- high-resolution files;
- formats prepared for online stores.
Photos are delivered as high-resolution JPEG and PNG files. Shots taken against a white background are also prepared as PNG files with a transparent background. RAW files can also be provided if necessary.
Product video starts at 700 GEL. The shoot takes one day, and the finished video is delivered within 7-10 business days.
The video service includes:
- product preparation and arrangement;
- 4K video production;
- macro and detail shots;
- filming with a moving camera;
- editing and visual effects;
- music and sound effects;
- formats prepared for different platforms.
These prices are the starting rates for each service when booked separately. Transportation of large items is an additional service, so the price will increase in such cases, with the exact amount agreed in advance.
How many products fit into a combined shoot
Photography and video are produced at different speeds. A photo session can cover 10-20 units of similar products, while the number is limited to 5-10 units when the products are different. The exact volume depends on the complexity of the products.
The quantity is lower for video. A single session can produce 3-5 videos for similar products and 1-3 for different products. This is due to the process itself: each video requires separate shots of details, movement, and different angles, after which the material must be edited and prepared in the appropriate formats.
If you need both services on the same day, the shot list should be planned around the video workload. For example, all products can be photographed against a white background, while video can focus on only a few main products that you plan to use in advertising, on social media, or on the website's homepage.
This approach is particularly practical for a large product range. Not every item needs the same number of photos and videos. A sales catalog may require a photo of each item, while the video may feature only selected products.
When it makes sense to shoot photos and video together
A combined shoot makes sense when you are simultaneously preparing content for the same products across several channels. The photos can be used in an online store, catalog, or marketplace, while the video can be used on social media, in YouTube advertising, or on a website.
Video length varies depending on where it will be used:
- for Instagram Reels and TikTok - 9-15 seconds;
- for YouTube advertising - 15-30 seconds;
- for a main product video on a website - 30-60 seconds;
- for an explainer video - 60-120 seconds.
Each format is created separately. A standard video package includes three formats from one shoot.
It is also worth shooting photos and video together when bringing the product to the studio requires additional organization. Clients bring smaller items, including jewelry and similar products, to the studio themselves. For large items, the studio arranges transportation separately with the client.
Choose photography only if you currently need high-resolution images shot against a white background for an online store. Video alone is suitable if you already have the necessary photos and need new content to demonstrate movement, use, or details.

Delivery times after a combined shoot
Shooting everything in one day does not mean it will all be delivered in one day. Photos and video go through different production processes, so their delivery times also differ.
Photos are completed within 3-5 business days. During this period, color correction, retouching, white background processing, and preparation of the required formats are completed.
The video delivery time is 7-10 business days. The recorded footage requires editing, the addition of visual effects, the selection of music and sound effects, and preparation in formats suitable for different platforms.
As a result, during a combined project, you may receive the photos before the video. If you are planning a campaign launch date, the production schedule should be based on the longer video delivery time.
